Waiting for his water to boil, Royd watched Ace proceed to one of the couches and then turned back to the kitchen to remove a mug from one of the cabinets. Turning back he was somewhat alarmed by the fact that the man had a knife and was apparently hurting himself on purpose. Seeing as he wasn’t tightly gripping the blade, Royd quickly raised his free hand and grabbed the knife with his telekinetic powers, plucking it from Ace’s hand.
“You came for my help and I would greatly appreciate it if you do not injure your self while I am trying to render it.” he stated as he brought the knife down to into the sink, still without touching it.

Ace blinked dumbly for a moment or so when the knife was pulled from his hand, then snapped out of it, to a degree. "I...what...?" He looked up, then followed the knife with his gaze as it went to the sink before blinking onve again and coming back to himself fully.
He shook his head, putting one hand to his forehead. "Thanks, Royd..." he mumbled, but otherwise did or said nothing further.

Lowering his hand after depositing the knife in the sink, Royd sighed and turned back to his tea for a moment. He could see keeping an eye on Ace was going to be a handful and worse yet, he would likely have to do it on the planet surface as well. Although Royd wanted to see new places, leaving the ship’s low gravity always caused him pain. But it was going to have to be something he would have to get used to, otherwise he would forever be a prisoner aboard the ship. Turning back after filling his mug and adding a spoon, the dark haired man returned to the couches and took a seat.
“I can see your condition has you quite distracted. Is there no way of countering the effects?” he asked and sipped his tea.

Ace shook his head slowly. "I... I really don't know..." he said. "I don't know anything about it... For all I know, it could wear off in a few minutes, or it could be permanent." He dropped his hand from his forehead. "It really is distracting... I need to focus on saving Earth, but I'm so worried for myself I barely have time to do that..."
He sighed, then lifted his head to look at Royd. "If there is a way to counter its effects, it's beyond me...not a surprise, really..."

“Well if it does not stop soon, we may have no choice but to return to that planet and acquire some samples. Air, water, etc. Hopefully we’ll find what is causing the narcotic affect and perhaps we can then create a regime to slowly wean you off of it’s effects without this withdrawal side affect.” Royd conjectured.
As they spoke, the Nightflyer’s FTL drive once again attained a sufficient charge to initiate a jump. The drive pods extended and glowed with their usual brilliance and in a flash the ship transited across space to it’s destination, appearing high above the fruit shaped world.

Ace nodded. "Sounds like as good a plan as any..." he said. "But if we do go back, I'd suggest a spacesuit, or something to keep you from breathing the air...wouldn't want anyone else to have this happen to them..." He just closed his eyes and put his face in his hands after that, content to just wait until they arrived at their destination.

As Talia slept rather peacefully on Royd's couch she would roll over slightly a while after Royd and Ace's departure from the ship causign her to roll right off the couch and onto the floor with a thud. "Owe..." Talia mumbled as she pulled herself up to a sitting position, as she did so she tried to remember where she was and after looking around a bit remembered everything. Sighing slightly Talia pulled herself to her feet. She felt a bit embarassed that she had just fallen asleep during her and Royds conversation and hoped that Royd was not angry with here. "Royd?" She would call out unsure if he was still around.

Monitoring everything around and within it, computer noted Talia waking and was about to engage the hologram when Ace and Royd returned to the cargo hold. Reasoning that he would probably prefer to speak to her in person, the system cancelled it’s instructions to talk to the young woman and simply informed Royd of the situation while he was in the transport tube.
As Royd rode up in the lift, the computer brought the ship’s reactor online and the main engines shortly followed al while he issued it’s report with the usual mechanical sounding whispers. Within minutes the giant craft was airborne and accelerating towards orbit. Returning to the lounge Royd hovelled his way in and headed strait for the closest couch.
“Talia, it is good to see you away again. Did you enjoy your nap?” he asked as he sat and leaned his cane against the black leather furniture.

Talia tensed up once again as the ship rather suddenly began activating. Once everything settled down however Talia realized that perhaps this meant that Royd was back on the ship or perhaps awake if he had simply decided to go to sleep just as she had. "Hello Royd, I'm really sorry about before. I guess I didn't realize how tired I was."

“It’s no problem at all.” Royd replied with a weak smile. “I’m sorry about the delay in getting you to your home world, a friend dropped in and asked for my help in locating one of the dragon balls. We found it and we’re getting closer to having the seven we need to save the planet. But we are on our way now. As soon as the ship gets into orbit, plots the course and makes the jump we’ll be at Odon.” he continued and laid his head back, thoroughly exhausted by their misadventure on the planet.

Talia would just stare at Royd with a look of pure confusion as he mentioned the dragon balls and the need for there to be seven of them to save the planet. "Umm... Royd, I think I missed something. How exactly will haveing these 'dragon balls' help Earth?" Talia was trying very hard not to say and of the numerious childish things that had popped into her head from Royd's statement.

“I’m not entirely sure about the process really. From what I gather, these orange crystals can be used to summon a creature called a dragon. Apparently the side effect of the summoning is the destruction of the planet they are used on. We apparently have to gather the same seven crystals and somehow that will stop the Earth from exploding. The computer probably has more information on it in the lesson files but I’m frankly a bit tired to go weeding through all of that data… Oh! Speaking of which, the computer finished the records search while you were sleeping. Tell me if you see anything familiar.” Royd replied at length and then addressed the computer.
“Display records search results please.” He stated to the machine and a moment later the ceiling’s image changed to a list of results with thumbnail pictures next to each.

Talia was a bit amazed with just how important these 'dragon balls' were, she would have to make a point of asking Royd about them again at another time as she was a bit interested in exactly WHY someone would want to summon a dragon. Before Talia could say anything Royd moved the subject onto the original reason Talia had boarded his ship when they first met. Talia could tell that the celing had changed to display images of the cargo as she had seen a few out of the corner of ehr eye before looking away rather quickly. Talia would take a few deep breaths before turning her head upward to look upon the images trying to spot anything that looked like her lamp.

While the two stared up at the ceiling, the computer completed plotting the coordinates for the jump back to Odon. Setting a course at sub-light speed, the Nightflyer pulled out of orbit and headed towards it’s new destination while the FTL drives continued to charge. It wasn’t long before sufficient energy had been stored and within moments the giant vessel made the jump to superluminal speed.

Talia would ignore the ship's sudden burst in speed as her complete focus was set upon the celing her eyes scanning over each and every image, after a few silent moments she spotted something that might just be what she was looking for. "Hey Royd can you make that picture larger?" Talia would ask as she indicated the object at just about the middle of the ceiling.

“Sure not a problem… Enlarge number four please.” Royd replied and then instructed the computer. As instructed the image Talia specified was enlarged to fill fully half of the ceiling projection while the other half scrolled through data about the object, it’s origin, destination, etc.
Meanwhile after a few moments of extended superluminal flight, the massive hull of the Nightflyer flashed back into being just outside of Odon’s orbit. Retracting the drive pods, the computer routed power back to the main engines and directed the ship into orbit about the planet.

Talia took a long hard look at the picture as if she was taking in every detail trying to ensure that it was what she had been looking for. In truth she'd known it the moment she had seen the smaller picture, this was all mostly just to make sure. "Yeah.. That's it." Talia said slowly not taking her eyes off the lamp.

“Well that’s good then, at least we know it was onboard at some point. If you want to track this lamp down though it might be difficult since it was shipped decades ago. It could be anywhere by now.” Royd replied and gazed up at the image and it’s accompanying text. He knew nothing of the people mentioned in the documentation nor anything of the companies involved so he doubted that he personally would be much help. Meanwhile the grand ship settled into it’s orbit around the Genie home world ad started to make preparations for landing when requested.

"No it's fine Royd, I know exactly where it is. I was just a bit curious. Thank you for showing me." Talia said with a half grin as she finally tore herself away from the picture. She was unsure of how she felt about knowing the lamp had been here, already she disliked any part of the ship that she had been in that wasn't this area and the sudden revelation hadn't really changed that much. "Hey Royd, how long until we arrive at Odon?" Talia would ask, unaware that they were already in the planets orbit.

“Well I’ll make a copy for you to keep later.” Royd replied and looked back up to the ceiling. “Save item four for printing please and return to external view.” he added. Having felt the transition back to sub-light speed and the slight rumbling as the ship transferred power from the FTL drives to the main engines, Royd knew they had arrived in the system, but it wasn’t until the image on the ceiling switched to a view of the planet bellow that he realized they were in orbit. It wasn’t surprising that someone unaccustomed to flying on the great ship didn’t detect the subtle changes and vibrations, he had after all lived his whole life on the vessel.
“It would appear we’ve already arrived. We can land at any time.” the dark haired man stated after studying the image.

"Oh Royd thank you but that isn't really necessary." Talia said, she didn't really want to keep anything that had to do with the lamp and it wasn't like she didn't already KNOW where it was. It was a pile of dust in some shop back on Hercule city. Suddenly Talia's entire body tensed up rather quickly as an unknown voice spoke directly into her mind. The voice explained that it belonged to a man by the name of King Kai who apparently lived in the After Life and was contacting her on Meria's behalf. Then all of a sudden there was a new voice. "Talia?" Meria had said in the same manner as the King Kai person had, Talia had known that she had nott finished speaking but almost instantly cut her off asking as many questions as she could think of in regards to what had happened to her. If Meria was bothered by her many questions she seemed to be able to completely ignore this fact as she calmly explained to Talia what had happened. Then she mentioned the dragon balls and Talia's heart soared, she had a chance to help get them back to life. Those hopes were monentarily crushed as King Kai mentioned Earth's demise. Thankfully there appeared to be yet another set on Planet Namek, and despite Meria saying that it was up to Talia if she wanted to do anything about it Talia had already made the decision for herself. "Bye Meria." Talia said in a low tone as the connection between herself and Meria was broken. "Royd I'm really sorry but is there any chance we could go to Planet Namek?"

Royd was about to say that the printout could be made available any time Talia wanted if she ever changed her mind and the politely as why she suddenly had another destination in mind, however before he could speak, the computer cut him off with a somewhat louder then normal and if possible, angry sounding series of whispers. Growing irritated, Royd glared up at one of the computer’s cameras and addressed it first.
“Yes I am quite aware that these repeated jumps are consuming fuel more quickly then normal. We have plenty for now.” He stated and looked back to Talia.
“Sorry, the computer is quite protective both of the ship and me. If we were ever stranded in space I’m sure I’d never hear the end of it.”

Talia just stood there staring from Royd to the part of the ship that he had spoken to, she hadn't quite expected to find out that the ship was at least shomewhat 'alive'. "Wait... your ship talks? " Talia asked with a look of bewilderment spread across her face. She wasn't quite sure why this fact was so confusing to her, heck her best friend was technically a machine and while she usually tried to hide it she was probably just like any other 'living' being.

“Indeed it does, although it speaks in a machine language that is decidedly different then the more common tongues. The Nightflyer’s computer is advanced enough to comprehend just about any language it is exposed to but programmed to only annunciate it’s self in machine code. That is what those hushed, whispery sounds are, the computer speaking to me.” Royd explained.

"That's pretty cool, so if the ship can talk and apparently is annoyed with you.. Is it like a person? Like does it have a personality?" Talia asked having become rather interested in just how lifelike the ship might be.

“Well no, not exactly. The computer is very sophisticated yes, but it is not alive. At least I don’t think so, though by the way it acts some times one could think differently.” Royd mused. “Well anyway, I guess we should be on our way then.” He added and then looked up to the projection on the ceiling.
“Take us away from the planet at one quarter sub-light please and plot a course for the planet Namek. Once the course has been plotted spin up the FTL drive and take us there.” Royd requested and then looked back to Talia.
“It’ll be a little while. Is there anything I can get you?” he asked as the ship fired up it’s main engines once again and started to pull out of orbit.

"Oh no, I'm fine. Your ship sounds pretty interesting though. You might want to try looking into it's 'personality' a bit more, before I met Meria the people that created her didn't believe that she was 'alive' either." Talia said with a chuckle before taking a seat on the couch once more. "Is there any way that I could understand your ship, or is that just something you've learned with all the time you've spent on it?"

“Mmm, perhaps when there is more time one day. I have only ever seen the computer once.” Royd replied. “As for understanding it, well anything is possible. I understand it because it has talked to me my whole life. It is I guess you could say, the first language I learned. Since I couldn’t make the sounds it does though I could never reply to it so when it thought I was old enough, it began English lessons and from there we could communicate.” Royd continued to explain.
Meanwhile as the ship moved further away from Odon and it’s gravitational field, the FTL drives started to power up and soon after the disk shaped pods deployed. Once fully charged they flashed with their customary brilliance and the ship vanished from sight.
