20.
Time to test the move thought Reven as he yelled "Wolf Fang Fist!" He would then throw a barrage of palm strikes at the bag. After that, he would finish off the combo with a kick sending the bag to the ceiling. Feeling accomplished that he mastered the Wolf Fang fist, he would leave the dojo.

Ian stepped into the main room of the dojo with his sports bag in hand. He silently proceeded over to the door that lead to the locker room and stepped inside. He'd been here training for almost three years now. Was it enough for him to enter the tournament?

He quickly changed into the gi that he'd been given by the dojo master. It bore the symbol of the Hercule City dojo over the left peck. Underneath the gi he was sure to slip on his weighted vest, and then add the weighted boots and bracers after he'd tied his belt. He shoved everything else into his locker and snapped the lock shut tightly. Time for another day of training. The tournament's opening day is getting close and I haven't even signed up yet....

He stepped back out of the locker room and into the main area of the Dojo. Everyone kept on going about their own training as usually, letting everyone else train without interruption. Ian had been trying to get the Solar Flare technique down as his final preparation for the tournament, but it seemed like he might not get it in time. He stepped in front of one of the wooden dummies and began to do warm-ups.

Whether I have the technique down or not...at the end of the day that will decide whether I sign up for the tournament or not. It will decide how long I have to wait before I become a competitive player in this sport. I won't give up, though. I'll keep going until I win. As these thoughts passed through his head, Ian shifted from warm-ups to pre-training meditation.

After only a few moments of meditation he stood up and took a deep breath. He looked over to his teacher, who was giving a demonstration of a swift combination attack to a group of new students, and motioned for him to come over. He waited for his teacher to finish the demonstration, of course, not wanting to be rude or disrespectful. After all, the way of the martial artist demanded discipline and respect.

When the demonstration was complete Ian's teacher directed all the students to separate training areas where they could practice and then he headed over to Ian to see what he wanted. "Hello, master. I'm back again today to try and perfect the Solar Flare technique. Do you have time to finish teaching it to me today? I'm confident I can do it."

Ian's master simply nodded and stepped over in front of him, bowing to Ian and then taking his stance. "Get ready, Ian. I will use the technique so you can see how it's done. You'll have to get hit by it to fully understand it, though, so don't expect this to be enjoyable." Ian nodded back and bowed as well, taking his stance as well.

"So, Ian, are you going to register for the tournament or not? It's very soon, you know. In a few days, in fact," Ian's master spoke in a casual manner. Ian was quick to reply, too, feeling somewhat anxious about the whole ordeal, "Yes. I intend to enter. I decided that if I couldn't master this technique by the end of the day, though, that I would not."

Before Ian could continue speaking his master screamed, "SOLAR FLARE!!!" as he brought his hands up beside his face at eye level, keeping his fingers spread as he did so, and unleashed a brilliant flash. The light was so bright that it blinded anyone who wasn't looking in the opposite direction. Ian immediately put one arm over his eyes, which were now watering from the intensity of the light.

Ian stumbled back, eyes still watering, and finally dropped his hand and opened his eyes. He was still whited out. It would probably take another moment or two before he could regain his full vision. In the mean time, he managed to hear a chuckle from his teacher over the moans and complaints of the others in the dojo.

Ian shook his head and wiped away the tears that had welled up in his eyes from the extreme blinding light. He wasn't whited out now, but his vision was still incredibly blurry. It was mostly just blobs of color blending together at the edges. Still, he listened to where his master's voice was coming from and turned to face him. "Now you see, or I suppose you don't see, how the Solar Flare works, Ian."

"In order to use the technique you must manipulate the light that is around you and magnify it with your energy," the master explained as he went from his now relaxed position back into fighting form. "Now you try to use it on me, Ian."
Ian nodded, "Yes, master." And he brought his hands up to eye level, making the same pose that his master had when he used the Solar Flare.

Ian began to quickly extend his energy into the air around him, using it to gather as much light as possible. He then shouted, "Solar Flare," and attempted to shine the light he'd gathered in a brilliant, blinding manner.

Ian's attempt was lackluster at best, and barely had the effect of shining a dim flashlight in his master's eyes. No one else was even effected at all. Ian frowned as he saw his master shake his head. Ian sighed and focused once again.

"This isn't something that requires only a small amount of ki. It takes a great deal of focus and a fair amount of energy to pull it off properly. Now, Ian, try it again!" Ian didn't want to disappoint his master. He had to get it right this time.

He called up a large amount of his power, focusing it all in the air around him as quickly as he could. His master didn't take time to pull off the technique. He did it in an instant. In order to master the Solar Flare, Ian had to do the same.

As he was sure he'd gathered enough energy this time, he took the familiar pose he'd done once already and seen around the dojo many times. With another great shout, "Solar Flare!!" He shined the light around him directly at his master as swiftly and powerfully as he could.

The flash was much more intense this time, and it even managed to get a couple of bystanders as well. It was still not a perfected version of the technique, however, and Ian was determined to get it right. he kept the pose and scowled, "Hmph!" His aura erupted around him.

"I will succeed! I will win!" He says aloud as the loose bits of his robe and belt are lifted upward by the strength of his energy. "I will perfect the technique know as..." He trailed off for a moment just long enough to gather a good chunk of his remaining power, "...SOLAR FLARE!!!"

This time things were different. The light that appeared upon his words was enough to blind anyone in the dojo who wasn't prepared, much like how his teacher's had done. The light stayed for a few moments, and when it faded Ian looked around to see the fruits of his training with a smirk. "I will master any technique I want. Nothing will stop me. If I can't master a simple technique how could I expect to with the World Martial Arts Tournament?" He asks himself aloud.

Once it was clear that every had gotten their sight back, Ian bowed to his master, "Thank you for the lesson, master. I'm going to sign up for the tournament now. I hope you'll watch when I fight." As Ian stood up straight from the bow he saw his master standing directly in front of him, much closer than before. He tore off the patch that was currently over Ian's left peck and tossed it on the ground.

Ian's face suddenly shifted to a look of surprise and disbelief. "Wha-What are you doing, master? That was the symbol of this dojo." Ian was very confused at his teacher's actions.
"Ian, you may be a student to me and to this dojo, but that symbol...you are worthy of a greater mark. That is what we give to our initiates. You are a skilled fighter now. You do not need that patch. It is now your duty to travel the world and learn new techniques and ways of fighting. That is the only way you can truly improve. Good luck at the tournament, my student."

Ian sighed and bowed one more time before turning and heading back to the locker room. He quickly pulled the key from the pocket in his weighted vest and unlocked his locker. He then proceeded to change back into his street clothes, but kept the weights on. Now it was crash-course training time. He stuffed his gi into his bag and extended the strap so it would hang from his shoulder and he could keep the bag against his lower back. Ian then headed out the door of the locker room, out of the dojo, and was on his way to Papaya Island.

2. "Sure thing Reiji. You need to make it faster and Stronger to do some real big damage!" He told him. "Like this." The Master got into a fighting stance position to get ready for the thing. Reiji watched.

5. "How did you do that master? Can you teach me how to do it?" Reiji asked him. "Of course i can. This is really simple to learn. You just have to do one thing to use it." He said to him.

6. "All you need to do is focus your ki into your palms and then release all that pent up energy inside you." His master said to Reiji. Reiji now Understood what he must do.
