Ian scratched his head for a moment, thinking, digging deep into the recesses of his mind. He had no memory of his father. He wasn't sure that his father had ever been around him at all. His mother had been there the whole time, though. She's probably worried about him right now. He'd been sending her letters, though. He lived so far north that it was troublesome to travel there a lot. "I don't know, honestly. I believe that my father was human, but my mother never talked about him. My mother always said that the reason my skin had a weird blue tint was that I had been blessed by the spirit of the north wind."

As Heater looked at him, he began to remember something his mom had told him about Kais. Namely, that they sometimes had weird skin colors, AND that they had pointed ears. "Really? Huh. From the looks of it, it looks like your paternal figure was a Kai."

Ian thought about it for a moment. He didn't really know what a Kai was either. Man...those years of high school and college didn't seem to be as useful as he thought. "Hmm...if what you say about your mother is true then anything is possible I guess. Stranger things have happened to me, comrade. I once met someone who was nearly three times as tall as you. He easily weighed more than twice my weight, too. The thing is, he looked a lot like you, though. He had red skin and a lizardlike face. Haha, he really put away the drink, that one."

"Really? Twice your size? Huh. That's big. Anyway, you feel like having a spar or fight or whatever? I think my injuries are healed, by now."

Ian shook his head, "No, comrade. You're not at one hundred percent. It wouldn't be an honorable and fair fight if we were to battle now. Maybe we can fight some other time when you're at full strength. For now, I have preparations to make. I've entered the World Martial Arts tournament and I'm going to do some solitary training."

"Huh. I signed up for the Budokai Tenkaichi, too. Eh, anyway, maybe we could fight some other time, then?"

"I hope so, comrade. By the way, I never got your name. I'm Ian Riley." Ian extends his hand for a shake. After the shake, and hopefully after getting this person's name, he'd sling his bag around behind him and take off sprinting down the street. Either way, he had things he needed to do.

Heater shook Ian's hand, he said, "I'm Heater. I know, it might be a strange name." Then, when Ian sprinted off, he sighed, and, then, rested his head against the wall again.

Raynak was clearly too fast for the ice cream guy.... He was a fast little monster... The ice cream guy having given up now, snatching his hat from his head, then slamming it on the ground in front of him, followed by angry curses and jumping stomps.... Raynak, who was several blocks ahead of the guy, now comes to a stop. A smile on his face, a bit winded from the running....
"Phew.... *puff* He was pretty determined.... Still, I win again!"

Raynak had dropped the majority of his spoils running away.... Though he had 3 ice cream bars left. Taking a seat on a nearby bus bench, Raynak opens one and enjoys his ice cream....
"This was SO worth it... Haha! Maybe I'll hit that guy up again later... After all, I dropped over half the goods.... ;_;"

Ian had stopped at a traffic light, letting cars pass so he didn't get ran over. It was during his wait that he heard footsteps. They were quick and almost silent. He turned to see who was coming his way. It was Raynak, the troublesome Namekian kid from before. Ian sighed and looked down at his friend. "What have you gotten yourself into now, comrade?"

Quickly finishing the first, he throws the remains in a trash bin next to him (don't litter kids! ), quickly unwrapping the second bar.... "Aww man! It's starting to melt!" He begins eating quickly now, the third one was sure to be in just about the same condition as the one he was currently eating. Looking over to a familiar voice, Raynak looks over to see Ian... "Ian! Haha! Want some ice cream?" Raynak takes up the remaining bar and holds it out for Ian to take. A grin on his face.... "What do ya mean, Ian...? *snicker* I haven't done anything.... Honest...."

Ian crosses his arms and shakes his head, almost scowling at the young Namekian. "No, thanks, Raynak. I don't want any of your clearly stolen goods. You should really stop doing that. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should." Ian sighed and looked back where he and Raynak had came from. He could still make out the Ice Cream man and his cart in the distance.

Raynak scoffs at Ian...
"Fine, whatever.... More for me then. And here I was tryin' to be nice..."
Finishing the ice cream he was currently eating, he unwraps the third and begins eating...
"What's the sense of havin' power, if ya don't use it...? You're too soft, Ian. One day, this world will know me as Demon King Raynak! The all mighty!"

Ian uncrosses his arms and puts his hands in his pockets. "By that logic someone stronger than you has every right to rob you blind and then murder you for fun, Raynak. That's not a good manner of thinking, comrade."

Raynak laughs at that, having finished the ice cream....
"Stronger than me!? The new Demon King?! Pfft! Fat chance!"
Jumping up now, Raynak gets on Ian's back, holding on to his shoulders...
"So, you gonna enter that tournament I've been hearing about?"

Ian chuckles when Raynak gets on his back, not really minding at all. It actually meant he could start walking again. "Well, Raynak, I entered the tournament already. Now I'm heading into the wilderness for some solitary training before the tournament. You have any ideas?"
|

"Training! Yay!"
Raynak cheers. He liked training and getting stronger, his drive for battle very uncommon for a Namekian...
"Sounds like a plan. I'll help whip ya into shape. You lack discipline! I'll show you the way of the true warrior!" Boy, Raynak was something else.... "Ideas....? *snicker* Yeah, I may have a few keys to victory for us..."

As they crossed the street Ian shook his head, "Oh, boy. What did I set in motion...haha. Raynak, you're as troublesome as you are helpful, you know that? Besides, last I recall I've been training way more than you. You just run around causing trouble for the average folk."
|

|

Raynak grinned at that...
"Oh really...? You underestimate me Ian. I'll show you what I'm made of!" At that, he climbs up to be standing on Ian's shoulders, while making a muscle with his right arm, bracing it with his left. "You are my loyal subject, Ian. So, you will have half of the spoils of this world! You need a cool title though.... Like me... Demon King. Ian ain't enough man! We gotta be cool!"

Ian chuckled. Ah...the wondrous mind of a child. It was fascinating and entertaining to hear the crazy concoctions that brewed in Raynak's mind even if some of them weren't so good. "If you come up with anything good let me hear it. I might consider taking on a special title. But that aside for the moment I have a question. Do you know anything about the Kais?"

Sitting now on Ian's shoulders, Raynak scratches the top of his head....
"The Kais....? No, not really. Only fairy tales and stuff at most. I've never actually met one."

Ian sighed and kept walking straight through the next intersection. The light was red, though, so he would be fine. "Ah, nevermind then. So, you said you had ideas. Go ahead, spill it. What were you thinking of?"
|
|
|

Raynak shrugs off the bit about the Kais, gaining that mischievous grin as Ian asked him about his plans....
"Well.... You just leave that to me, Ian my friend. Don't worry about it, I got ya back at the tourney. I'm just gonna root for ya all the way.... Haha. Victory will be ours! And I shall win again!"

Ian groaned and said, "I thought you had ideas for training. If you're going to cause problems at the tournament then I can tell you right now that you shouldn't. I already turned down fighting someone today because it wasn't an honorable fight. Martial Artists, true martial artists, value respect and discipline. You wanna respect someone....you fight them at your best."

Raynak returns the groan....
"Aww man.... You're always spoilin' the fun, Ian.... Fine, I won't do anything." Raynak crosses his fingers behind his back as he says that..."Ah! You meant for training now! Just that you and me go at it right now! How bout it tough guy?! Put you're money where ya mouth is! With us training together, you'll be a sure-win for the tourney."
|

|

Ian smirked at Raynak's words. He hadn't been in a good fight for quite some time. He didn't know how close in strength Raynak was to the fighters at the tournament, but he knew he was way stronger than the average person. At least the fight would be challenging. Ian stopped walking for a minute. "Hold on tight. I don't wanna fight in the city, and it'll be faster if I sprint. Better training, too." With that, Ian took off full speed. He was wearing weights and carrying Raynak, so it would be that much more intense.

Raynak nodded in acknowledgement, holding on tight as Ian took off...
"Wah-hoo!!!"
Easily amused, Raynak accompanies Ian to the wilderness.

Heater yawned and then opened his eyes. Getting up, he said, "Huh. I think I'm better, now. Maybe I should go look for a dojo to go train in, now."

He then started walking around the city, until he finally a building that had a dojo sign on it. Chuckling, he said, "Finally. Now, I can go learn something new." Then, he proceeded to walk inside.
