Warning: The following system may seem complex, but it is the 4th and hopefully final version of a system that has been developed for 4 years. This is the best way things can be, and if you study it for a bit, it all makes sense anyway.
Not recommended for newbies.
Kaioken works by straining energy from your body that it otherwise shouldn't be capable of releasing.
This results in gradual physical harm to the user in exchange for an increase in power, skill, senses, etcetera.
While using Kaioken, you will be enveloped in a deep red aura.
How It Works
For every you have, you have 1 'Kaioken Post'.
Once you run out of these, you lose your highest major transformation.
Major transformations are the ones every 1000 posts.
So, for example, if your highest transformation is Ascended Super Saiyan, then your highest major transformation is Super Saiyan.
When you're out of 'Kaioken Posts' you lose Super Saiyan, and therefore also lose Ascended Super Saiyan.
You can then get all your 'Kaioken Posts' back. Once you run out again, you lose another major transformation, until your highest major is 'Base x1'.
If you run out of Kaioken Posts while your highest major transformation is Base x1 or equivalent, then you collapse, unable to fight anymore.
But What Are The Boosts?
Kaioken gives you a +0.1 boost, using 1 Kaioken Post per post.
Kaioken x3 gives you a +0.2 boost, using 2 Kaioken Posts per post.
Kaioken x4 gives you a +0.3 boost, using 3 Kaioken Posts per post.
Etcetera.
Defects of Kaioken
So, you can get extra power, great, right?
Well... not so great... because every post you experience Kaioken, your character suffers internal damage. This is reflected in the rules below...
On your next post, for every Kaioken Post you used, all transformations (including Base) will be reduced by 0.01.
So using Kaiokenx4, for a +0.3 boost, will result in a loss of 0.03 from all transformations on the post afterwards.
This penalty is also taken even if you keep Kaioken active... meaning a penalty is applied the post after each and every single post you use Kaioken... it does NOT all hit you at once after using Kaioken for a few posts!
The following small-print includes rules regarding cheap use of Kaioken.
But if you're gonna play fairly, this stuff shouldn't matter to you.
Upon making a dismembering attack that you would not be capable of without Kaioken, one of your own limbs will be rendered useless in some way to match what happened to your opponent (this also includes getting it torn off).
Upon killing an opponent in a way that would not be possible without your Kaioken, your internal organs will explode from the stress, and you will die swiftly. Note that without a stomach, senzu beans cannot save you.
When making a dodge that you would not be capable of without Kaioken, you will suffer severe muscular pain and become stunned for a moment, therefore giving your opponent an opportunity to hit you anyway with something else. So make sure your opponent is either too distracted, or the dodge is worth it!
When making a theft that you would not be capable of without Kaioken, you suffer severe muscular pain and become stunned in the same way as when making cheap dodges as defined above. Becoming stunned in this way gives your opponent enough time to steal back what you took and punish you for taking it.
Overall, Kaioken is a way to beat especially powerful players, at the expense of your own physical well-being.
Use with extreme caution!
Death by Kaioken
You have two choices... either way the death is inescapable, so not even a senzu bean can save you... YOU WILL DIE!
1. At any point in battle when you collapse, unable to fight... perhaps you're even about to fall unconscious... refresh your Kaioken Posts and get up, activating Kaioken of any level you are capable of for a final stand.
The moment your Kaioken is deactivated... you die.
2. You use Kaioken way too long (explained below).
Using Kaioken too Long
If you find that your Base form is reduced to x0.5, even if you're not in it, then you will collapse, unable to fight any more (while reverting to Basex0.5) as soon as you are penalized (the post after you used Kaioken).
If you find that your Base form is reduced to less than x0.5, even if you're not in it, then you will die the moment you are penalized (the post after you used Kaioken).
If you find that your Base form is reduced to x0 or lower, even if you're not in it... YOU DIE IMMEDIATELY! Meaning before you even get to use your Kaioken!
Shifting Kaioken
You can switch Kaioken on for one post, then off the next, or power it up higher suddenly, and drop it in the next post, etcetera...
For each turn you're not using Kaioken, you recover 1 Kaioken Post until you reach how many s you have again.
You do not recover any lost transformations, though.
If you've collapsed unable to fight, or taken too much internal damage from Kaioken overuse, then you cannot recover Kaioken Posts.
Ultimate Kaioken Only: Carrying Over Kaioken Posts
Say you're a saiyan at 3100 posts, with Super Saiyan activated.
You have 9s, giving you 9 Kaioken Posts.
You are allowed to activate Kaiokenx11, to consume all your Kaioken Posts, then consume a further Kaioken Post in your Base set.
There is a problem, though... whenever you use a Kaioken Post from the form below the one you're currently in before detransforming, like this, you lose 0.02 (instead of 0.01) from all transformations for each star you've carried over from the form below, starting from your next post.
If you use a Kaioken Post from a form two stages below the one you're currently in, in the same way, you lose 0.03 from all transformations for each star you've carried over from the form two stages below, starting from your next post.
Etcetera.
Note that you cannot carry over any more Kaioken Posts after you run out of Base Kaioken Posts. You can still use 'Death by Kaioken Method 1' as soon as you're about to collapse, though. You just can't carry over these Kaioken Posts.
Example of Death by Carried Over Kaioken
A Super Saiyan 2 at 4500 posts will have 10 stars.
The highest level of Kaioken this Super Saiyan 2 can use is Kaiokenx31 for a one-post gain of +3, raising them from x2 to x5!
Super Saiyan 2 Kaioken Posts 10->0 Kaiokenx11
Super Saiyan Kaioken Posts 10->0 Kaiokenx11->x21
Base Kaioken Posts 10->0 Kaiokenx21->x31
Penalties received upon post after using Kaioken...
10 Super Saiyan 2 Kaioken Posts -0.1
10 Super Saiyan Kaioken Posts -0.2 -> -0.1-0.2 = -0.3
10 Saiyan Kaioken Posts -0.3 -> -0.3-0.3 = -0.6
On the turn after this moment of Godliness, the poor saiyan is reduced to Base x0.4... which is less than x0.5... resulting in a dead Saiyan.
Complicated?
Get someone else who knows what they're doing to help you work out what's going on, until you can figure it out yourself... it's actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it.
Alternatively, just don't carry over your Kaioken unless you really have to!
