Beginning at the top of some mountain, and after many miles of journeying, flowing out in to the ocean. Rivers are sometimes relaxing, sometimes raging. Sometimes the water is clear, sometimes it's filthy. Sometimes a river is safe, sometimes there are carnivorous fish waiting to gobble you up. It all depends.
Whatever kind of river you're in or nearby, post about it here.

Haru would travel to a river in which he had a boat waiting for him. "I havne't been out here for quite some time. I better get going" Haru would put his bag into the boat and push off.

As Haru rowed through the river he'd see a bunch of wild animals that he'd never seen before. He had been here plenty of times but this was new. "Hmmmmm"

"Well i've only been out for a like a day and I'm already seeing something new. I hope I can learn fro the people I meet." Haru would see the opening of the river to the ocean and row on.

Ace broke the surface of the river carrying him toward the ocean, gasping as a short fall sent him spinning toward the bottom again. Rolling along the bottom, he finally managed to push up and break the surface again. "FUCK!!! I hate rivers..."

The river's current slowed slightly and Ace was able to gain his bearings, and started to actually swim downstream. "Jeeze, what's up with my luck today... First that crazy kid, then a hungry T-Rex, and now a possessed river!"

"......What was that?" Ace looked around for a moment, then shrugged, continuing downstream. But below him, two glowing yellow spots followed slowly behind him, inching closer.

Ace stopped swimming, floating with the current as he looked around. "There's something in this river..."
And that something broke the surface right behind Ace, leaping up out of the water, jaws wide as it aimed to come down on Ace and nom him in one gulp.

"BULLFUCK!!" Ace screamed, diving under water and corkscrewing to his left as he did. He felt the scales of the huge fish brush his arm as he did, and knew he had barely escaped. Damn it all...

Ace swam as fast as he could, breaking the surface for air. He wasn't a particularly strong swimmer, but fear gave him motivation to swim fast despite that. Even so, he couldn't outswim the aquatic carnivore.

"This whole day has been shit!" Ace whined as the fish came even closer behind him, despite his best efforts at speed. But, when he got a mouthful of water, he spit it out in disgust. "Salty..." He grinned.

"Like salt water fishy?" Ace mocked, then swam forward, grinning as the fish turned back. "Yeah, go back to your fresh water, ye of weak constitution!" He laughed, turning out toward the broad expanse of water before him. "Oh yeah! Survived again!"

Shiro followed along side the stream as it grew larger. Before long, it was several meters wide and flowing pretty darn fast. "I wonder what kind of fish live in there?" he asked in response to his stomach's latest demand for food.

He dived down, looking around the muddy water and trying to find a hint of movement. Nothing, no shadows or vague shapes anywhere around him. Probably because I jumped in, he thought, I scared them all off.

He swam back to the bank and held on to a rock to keep himself from flowing too far down stream, and waited. About ten minutes later, he lowered himself back down slowly, being careful not to make any sudden moves. Then, when his eyes entered the water, he looked around.

He blinked a few times as his eyes got used to the water, then stared into darkness. He realized that there was a slight pain making a rough circle around his face, as if his entire head were being bitten. Which, obviously, it was. Apparently, I make decent bait.

Shiro's hand went up, grabbing the fish's tail as he stood, face hidden by some large, silver-scaled fish. "I'm gonna be smelling you for hours, aren't I, Smelly?" He muttered as he blindly walked back to shore before trying to pry the fish off.

"The hell are you, a Bear Trap Snapper!?" Shiro shouted in frustration thirty seconds later, when the fish still refused to come off. Finally, he just chopped the fish in the side, killing it, and causing it to let go. "'Bout time."

Now that he could see, Shiro realized two things. One, he'd drifted a good ways downstream trying to find fish, and two, there was no wood, nor trees, around for him to build a fire with. "Looks like I'm eating sashimi, I guess."

I suppose I could just bite into it as is, but what about the scales? Meh, I'll just spit them out. Like watermelon seeds. Fishy, nasty, sharp watermelon seeds. Yeah, real appetizing.

A loud gurgle from his stomach convinced him that, yes, that did in fact sound appetizing and that if he didn't feed it soon, it would rebel and start eating him. He didn't ask if it were serious, or if being threatened by your organs was a sign of insanity, he just took a bite. He would later recall that it was the most disgusting food he'd ever eaten, but once that chunk of flesh entered his stomach, it was like a banquet.

He had finally, for the fifth time, removed the last piece of scale from his mouth when he noticed something ahead. The previously flat horizon had a small, almost unnoticeable hump just in front of him. This could have meant anything, but Shiro decided to be an optimist and ran forward. "CIVILIZATION!"
