“Mm hm.” Royd acknowledged once again and continued to concentrate. From his imaginary point of view he envisioned a thin, blue, almost vaporous appendage reaching forward. Maneuvering the appendage to wrap around and completely envelope his image of the pen he then tried to move it, shifting his image of the pen along the imaginary floor.

On the actual floor however nothing happened. Royd furrowed his brow, concentrated once more and again tried to move the pen. However again the writing implement did not move.
“Something’s wrong, I can’t get it to move.” He stated looking back to the instructor.

“Well of course not, you haven’t committed actual energy to it yet. The imaginary pen is just a guide so you can learn to manipulate your energy the right way. Once you get good enough at it you won’t even have to use the detailed images any more, you’ll be able to move things with just a thought. Her let me show you… Take that trash can over by the door, wouldn’t it look better on the other side?” the instructor stated and just as quickly as he had made the suggestion, the can slid across the floor to the opposite side of the entrance.

“That is really quite impressive.” Royd commented after watching the can move by it’s self.
“Thanks, been practicing for quite a while. But if your family is as gifted as you say they are you might just need to pick up the basics and from there you’ll improve quickly.” The instructor replied.

“Ok, let’s try this again.” Royd stated and looked back to the pen. Forming the image of it in his mind he reoriented the image to match the one on the floor and then formed the appendage of energy. Taking it a step further, Royd started to manipulate his energy, feeling out it’s current shape and that starting to route it so that it began to form an invisible appendage like the one he was imagining.

Once he felt he’d correctly formed the actual energy tentacle, he first moved the image of the pen, noting how the attached appendage would have to move with it. Then concentrating he moved the energy appendage in the same fashion. Astounded, he watched as the pen levitated off the floor and hovered, al being somewhat wobbly.

“Very good, on the first serious try no less.” The instructor congratulated him. “Now try and keep it up. You have to get used to manipulating the object before you can do more complex things with it. If you want and once you think you’re ready, try turning it.”

Struggling a bit at first just to keep the pen aloft, Royd eventually found it becoming easier to hold the pen in place. It’s levitation eventually steadied to the point where it looked as if it were suspended by an invisible string.

After several more minutes of holding the pen in place and once he was doing it with ease now, Royd began to turn it along it’s short axis, essentially spinning the spinning the writing instrument in place. He reversed it’s direction a few times and varied the speed to test out just how well he could manipulate the pen’s orientation.

Ace landed outside the dojo, pushing open the door and walking in. "Hmm..." He looked around, his scouter registering that most of the creatures in here would put up quite a decent fight against him. "Heh...strogner than Earth, that's for sure..."

Stopping the pen’s rotation he then started to move the pen laterally, floating it across the lobby and landing it safely on the receptionist’s desk. Once he set the pen down, Royd turned his attention to the trash can that had been moved earlier and attempted to see if he could handle a larger object.

Stretching his mental control out across the room once more, Royd wrapped his invisible, mental appendage around the can, enveloping it within it’s controlling field. Once he felt he had a firm grip of the can he tried to drag it back across the floor to the other side of the doorway. At first though the can refused the budge, his mentally projected hand passing through the object.

Walking further into the dojo, Ace ignored the odd glances and grumbling from several Changelings that greeted him. When one took a step toward him, he just looked at him. "How many saiyans have you seen with blue hair?"
The Changeling stopped dead. "Hmph..."

Shaking his head, Ace chanced another look around. "Ah...there you are!" he mumbled to himself upon spotting Royd. It was obvious he was doing something important, mostlikely trying to learn a technique of some sort, so for now Ace just stood back and watched, not wanting to interrupt.

Trying once more, Royd enveloped the can again and tried to push it to the other side of the doorway. This time the can rocked slightly and then started to slide across the floor.
“That’s very good. It took me days before I could move anything that large.” the instructor complimented.

“Thank you.” Royd replied as he completed sliding the can to the opposite side of the entrance. “It is becoming easier but it does feel quite draining to move things without touching them.”
“Don’t worry, it will get easier as you learn to control it better. Soon, it will be easier then moving it your self.” the instructor replied.

“Well thank you very much for teaching me. I shall be sure to practice often.” Royd stating as he stood up and took a few wobbly steps before turning back and trying a new trick. Holding out his hand, he mentally grasped his cane and brought it forth. Smiling as his cane obeyed, gliding across the floor in an upright position and then coming to a rest in his hand.
“Hahaha!!! Very good. Use it well.” the instructor exclaimed and stood up. “Now I have to get to my other duties. Come back any time.” he added and then headed back into the training area.

Ace grinned when he noticed Royd had apparently finished learning his new technique. "Well done," he said, approaching him. "That's quite a useful trick, there."

“Ah Ace. Thank you, I imagine it will be quite useful. I see I was right in assuming you could find me.” Royd replied. “I take it now we are to leave and track down these dragon balls? My ship is landed just outside of the city.” he added

Ace nodded. "It wouldn't be a terrible idea to leave now," he said. "So, Roy...er, Captain Eris, lead the way to this ship of yours." With having been introduced as a Captain, Ace felt rather awkward addressing Royd by his first name.

“Oh please, go ahead and call me by my first name. There is no reason to be formal.” Royd replied and started towards the door. While he wasn’t getting any better with the high gravity of the planet, the rest afforded to him had done him well. Leading the way out of the dojo, the young man started back towards his ship.

Ace grinned slightly. Formalities were troublesome at times, but he tried to keep to them as much as he could, thanks in part to his father. But, at Royd's request, he felt it would be alright. "Well, since you ask...Royd, I will"
He followed him out of the dojo with that statement.
